A lot of people think Charlie Sheen is a real train wreck and Off His Rocker.

Well, I actually got to bed early the other night and Charlie Sheen was featured on the Tonight show with Jay Leno, so, I decided to tune in thinking I would get something WIERD to talk about the next morning. Did you see it?

I have to tell you … Charlie really IMPRESSED me on the Tonight Show.

After months of being off his rocker and getting negative media coverage for his mostly STUPID actions of impulse and childish behavior …

….. Charlie IMPRESSED ME!

“Appearing on Thursday’s Tonight Show, the former star of Two and a Half Men radiated a forgiving mood toward his old workplace. Asked by host Jay Leno if he’s still angry at the sitcom’s producers and network, he said no: He would have fired himself had he been in their shoes. Then he added with a laugh, “Well, maybe not like they did.”

Sheen says he would have fired himself Sheen was dumped last March after the actor railed against his bosses, and they blasted him for his unpredictable behavior as a drug-abusing, reckless playboy.

“It was bad,” Sheen said, summing up the clash, “and I own my part in that, and I just want to make everything right.”

Asked why he thought he should have been fired, Sheen explained, “I should have been a little more responsible about the condition I was showing up in.”

Why am I writing to YOU about this?

Well, I am glad you read this far.

You see not too many years ago I asked myself …

“Would I FIRE myself in my Home Business?”

hmmm … Now think that through VERY carefully!

Guess what … Two and a Half Years ago (not Two and a Half MEN ago .. LOL) I did just that in my Home Business.

I sat back and said “If I was EMPLOYEEING Myself in MY Home Business” would I keep myself on as a representative of MY company.

My answer was SIMPLE and took all of 5 seconds for me to DECIDE as Donald Trump would say
…“Mark … You’re FIRED”

Why on earth would you FIRE yourself, you may be saying.

Well, it gave me a way to ASSESS my own Work Ethic and REASONS for being in Internet Marketing and the Home Business arena.

So for the next TWO hours I was jobless, FIRING MYSELF.

I sat down and analyzed the actions I was taking and the half assed effort I was TRULY putting into my business.

I looked at my financial situation and WHY I was in the earning category I

was.

I looked at my business relationships and how well or poor they were.

I looked at my time management and where I was spending my time.

I looked at my PERSONAL relationship with my wife and children.

I (in a two hour period) reviewed EVERY aspect of my life.

ONE big factor I realized was that I was acting WIERD to the people CLOSE to me that thought I was CRAZY for having a BIG PIPE DREAM of hitting it BIG on the Internet. I lashed out and alienated those that did not see it my way.

NOW … I wasn’t on drugs or drinking or anything like that … BUT … I have to admit that if the people around me didn’t SEE my vision … I was a Charlie Sheen asshole to them.

At that MOMENT … It all STOPPED.

I decided to Re-Hire myself and change the way I “Do Business”.

From that point on I no longer even mentioned my Home Business or Dreams of hitting it BIG to those that were around me.

I kept my relationship with my brother, father, mother, cousins, friends and co-workers “Clean” I like to say. I NEVER mentioned my Dreams to THEM and my Home Business to THEM again.

NOW, I did keep a relationship with them and sort of like Charlie, admitted I was acting WIERD as they did not see it MY way and told them.. “I understand, you really thought you were looking out for me!” – and… I left it at that as I “CONTINUED” to pursue my dreams.

I also decided to bring people in my life that DO have the same thought process as I do when it comes to SUCCESS! Now, I did NOT drop my friends and family or anything like that. I just did NOT communicate with THEM about my Home Business Success and Failures or my BIG dreams.

I started associated with people that has similar business DREAMS and More Success than I did.

They say … who ever they is … That if you take the INCOME of the FIVE people you most commonly associate with … add up all 5 incomes … then Divide It By 5 .. and THAT IS WHAT YOU MAKE!

You know what .. I can tell you that this is 100% TRUE.

It also stands true for your work ethic, moral character and political beliefs.

So, what’s the whole moral of this story?

Well, lets fast forward Two and a Half Years.

I am now a highly sought after Speaker and Trainer in the Home business industry.

I make MORE working a couple hours a week than most people make working 40 + hours.

I released TWO print books and just this week my second book hit the Best Seller List on Amazon for the Category of Motivation. I now have a title of “Best Selling Author”.

My wife and I just put an offer on a HUGE 6180 square foot home with a big Pool, 6 Bedrooms, 4 Full baths and a Full Guest Quarters that we hope to bring our top affiliates in for brain storming sessions. And, it has GREAT views!

Life is GOOD!

Now don’t get me wrong. We still have CHALLANGES!

I just handle them differently!

I DON’T pull the OLD Charlie Sheen anymore.

I have great respect for what Charlie did Thursday on the Jay Leno show.

Like him or hate him, he is assessing his life and knows what he needs to change.

I guess my question to you is …

“Would You FIRE Yourself??”

If so … Do It!

Then take time to ASSESS and in a few hours come back with VENGANCE!

You CAN have everything you want, I assure you of that… but … are YOU willing To FIRE yourself to get it!

Did you know that 66% of the population of the U.S.A alone is overweight?

Here are the recent results provided by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey that states:

About two-thirds (66%) of adults in the United States are seriously overweight, and almost one-third of those are obese. By the way some surveys actually put the overweight rate at 70%.

The most commonly used method for testing today to calculate if you are overweight, is the Body Mass Index (BMI).

BMI is an index of weight adjusted for the height of an individual.

Calculating BMI is simple, quick, and inexpensive, but it does have limitations too.

One problem with using the BMI as a standard of measurement tool is that very muscular people may fall into the “overweight” category when they are actually healthy and fit.

Another problem with using BMI is that people who have lost their muscle mass, such as the Baby Boomers and Senior Citizens, may be in the “healthy weight” BMI category (BMI 18.5 to 24.9) when they actually have reduced nutritional reserves.

BMI, therefore, is useful as a screening tool for individuals and as a general guideline to monitor trends in the population, but by itself it is not a fully diagnostic report of an individual patient’s health status.

An easy way to calculate your BMI is by using your measurements in pounds and inches, (multiply weight in pounds by 704.5,* divide the result by height in inches), and then divide that result by height in inches a second time. 

Here are some of the problems assiciated with being overweight and obese: (Remember that we’re talking about those with a higher FAT ratio than MUSCLE ratio).

Overweight

• diabetes
• coronary heart disease
•  high blood cholesterol
• stroke
• hypertension
• gallbladder disease
• osteoarthritis (degeneration of cartilage and bone of joints)
• sleep apnea and other breathing problems
• some forms of cancer (breast, colorectal, endometrial, and kidney)

Obesity

• complications of pregnancy
• menstrual irregularities
• hirsutism (presence of excess body and facial hair)
•  stress incontinence (urine leakage caused by weak pelvic floor muscles
• psychological disorders, such as depression
• increased surgical risk
• increased mortality

Here’s the recent statistics of Americans:

Overweight – Age 20 and older
Adults: 133.6 million (66 percent)
Women: 65 million (61.6 percent)
Men: 68.3 million (70.5 percent)

Obese – Age 20 and older
Adults: 63.6 million (31.4 percent)
Women: 35 million (33.2 percent)
Men: 28.6 million (29.5 percent)

Healthy Weight – Age 20 and older (not necessarily healthy)
Adults: 65.4 million (32.3 percent)
Women: 38.1 million (36.1 percent)
Men: 27.4 million (28.3 percent)

Overweight – Children and Adolescents:
Approximately 17.5 percent of children (age 6 to 11) and
17 percent of adolescents (age 12 to 19)

If you aren’t already thinking about cutting back on those Happy Meals and other fast food restaurants, I’ll give you an educational head start on the ramifications of our kids being overweight now, and becoming obese as adults from eating processed food.

• Increased health care costs—both direct and indirect – cost $117 billion (2002).

Direct health care costs refer to preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services such as physician visits, medications, and hospital and nursing home care.
Indirect costs are the value of wages lost by people unable to work because of illness or disability, as well as the value of future earnings lost by premature death.

• Lost productivity – cost is $3.9 billion (2001)

Beyond those more measurable costs there are the following potential effects:

• ? Early death – Leaving young children without a parent & kids not living longer than their parents
• Loss of mobility, causing others to care for you
• Lack of self-esteem

The topic of the day was presented by Chris Reid about exploring the myths on why so many people still hate to exercise, and how the 7 Minute Workout System is about to change that.

How do you communicate with others when they ask for feedback on a blog post or website?

How do you communicate your message to them?

What if they post something on a Social Network? How do you convey your feelings without hurting them? What if the information you see is horrible from your experiences? Do you help them or let them suffer and fail?

Here is where the Sandwich Technique comes in very handy.

Most people have not had formal training or have never mingled with successful expert marketers they know, like, and trust.

Think about the top, the middle and the bottom of the sandwich as good – bad – good. That means compliment – criticize – leave them feeling good.

Understand that many people can’t take constructive criticism, even if it is given in the proper way.

Always compliment the good first. Next tell them the bad. There is always room for improvement. Be honest with them and pick only one thing  they could use for improvement and address that problem honestly and sincerely.

Follow up your comment with something to motivate the change. Give them what they need with expert information if changes are to be made. Nothing is bad if prople don’t see a suggestion on your website. Mention something like i.e. “The only thing I am not sure of is the big graphics on your page. It could drive people away.”

When you master the techniques, you will never starve in your business.

Life has many cycles and sometimes there are times when they seem out of balance. In my opinion, this is normally due to an imbalance in personal feelings.

You are the one who has to make the decision who you network with. Stay focused and know the route you are taking. It is important to know the traits and tactics so you do well with your online business. You need to build a good foundation to attain success, not good friends. Don’t be afraid to let go of those types of non-friends.

Are they really your true family or do they just act like it? They may not be the best to be around because they are negative, and always putting you down.

Oopzee My Friends, I forgot to post Week #3

Kim Nesbitt and SaRita Helson decided to give us a chance to catch our breath after the first 2 weeks of Using Social Media for Your Local Businesses with a quick review of what we have discussed and learned over the first 2 weeks of their 6 p.m. Wednesday show.

SaRita begins the show by reminding us to work on developing our Facebook strategy and getting more exposure by getting in and interacting with groups, posting comments on YouTube videos using the video response feature.

She asked if everyone in the conference had a Facebook page and 100% of the members have already taken that step. Some members reported that they didn’t understand Digg, so SaRita will cover more on can you Digg it later in the conference.

One of the Facebook groups the women really like is called “The Women of Facebook”, where they were excited to see posts about children’s outdoor play sets where there were 16 comments posted. It is amazing to see how those swing sets we grew up playing on are now like fully equipped exercise stations.

So the next time you are on Facebook, go to those groups you are interested in, click on that info wall to get those relationships growing.

The special guest for this evening was Melissa Cohoe who works at the Data Center in San Antonio and is responsible for Social Media with GVO and the 7 Minute Workout.

She provided us with a couple of websites we should take a look at. http://www.socialmention.com for alerts and http://www.mashable.com for feedback on what is going in with Social Media.

Next Kim and SaRita gave us a demonstration of the tabs across the top section and the left hand side of a Facebook page i.e. Groups, Friend Requests, Messages, Private Conversations, and Notifications.

When you look at people who have tagged you via photos and you click on their link, it will take you to their Facebook profile.

On the left hand side of your home page, look for the more tab to access all of the groups you belong to. SaRita suggested that we start with 3 to 5 groups initially until your confidence grows where you can handle many more.

The News Feed, are the aggragate posts. A feature that Facebook changed recently from the default setting, with the most recent news showing first. There are 3 factors that determine what is most important when posting from your news feed.

Anything posted appears on your wall. Your personal entries are areas where they can connect with you, and it adds information into your news feed, but the difference is that now everyone can see it.

You can also go directly to their wall by clicking on their name. Your friends only see their posts on your wall, not on a particular persons wall. There are many options you can share like Photo share and other methods you can use to capture 0nes attention. Having photos and videos are some of the best methods to create that visual connection and gain even more exposure.

Interact with other people by using the questions tab and creating an interactive poll. Your goal is to get people talking after answering your question. You can increase your marketability by using your GVO Easy Video Producer or YouTube account to create and embed your videos.

Having your photos tagged by someone else can be used as a spam tool. If you discover that there  are tagged photos of you and you want to remove them, look for your name under the photo and select remove photo. Then it will be removed from the image ribbon.

Facebook walls have public access, as messages and secret groups are not viewable by everyone. You have the option to remove anything posted on your wall by clicking on the X that says remove.

Many members are now buddying up to help each other understand the importance of using Social Media to the fullest.

Next Wednesday, Kim and SaRita are going to dig deeper into using Social Media for your local businesses and show you how to put it on steroids.

Todays conference is going to shed more light on the things you can do with your Facebook pages, and getting your visitors to click on your “like” button. We hope you had fun with last week’s assignment in connecting with people using your YouTube videos, making comments and using video responses.

The first question directed to our class is;

Why do you want to have a Facebook Fan Page for your business?

To connect with customers, prospects you meet online, to drive traffic in a new trustworthy way. Adding content to those expressing interest in you and what you do to achieve success. Building your email list by putting in an opt-in form on your Fan Page. Promoting a specific business, product, service or brand market to a specific audience anywhere around the world.

Your updates are displayed as your followers receive news feeds. With your Fan Page, you can also have an unlimited number of followers compared to the 5000 limit on your personal page.

Facebook Fan Pages can be easily found within a search that takes your posts to a larger audience, creating viral opportunities. You want to be an honest and trustworthy person, one your fans can really trust in this Social Media environment.

Your goal is to get those first 25 “Likes” to your Facebook Fan Page. Then you can change your url into a shorter one and improve your search engine optimization (SEO).

SaRita provided us with information on The Anatomy of a Facebook page.

• Your profile picture should be an image that represents you as a professional
• People connect with you when they can see your face, not your avatar or logo
• A great way to share your photos is to use the image ribbon to add your 5 favorite photos or products you are marketing
• On the right hand side you will see suggestions that Facebook uses for applications, advertisements, names of people you may know, content, and other applications based on what your friends do.
• Profile tabs illustrate likes that make up your page
• Wall tabs are a required facet that you must have on your page
• You can also change the order or position of your tabs
• The big box in the middle is your content area
• Set up a default landing tab so your visitors click on your “like” button
• Once they do click on your “like” button they will receive your updated posts on their newsfeeds.
• Page Tabs – use them make up the content of your page as you want to expand and customize this feature
• Learn to use the new iframes technology application as Facebook has recently changed its algorithms from FBML
• Use the applications and flexibility of your Facebook Fan Page correctly and follow the rules to prevent having your account suspended
• You want to engage your fans without having them leave your Facebook Fan Page

Design Consideration

• Focus on your ideal customers
• Exercise moderation
• Stay on your topic and keep them up to date
• Blend authority with your personality
• Use feedback wisely
• Brand yourself – have them see you as an authority figure
• Be professional at all times
• Keep your customers in line
• Don’t overlook what people are saying about you
• Encourage interaction – after all it is free
• The most critical step is to keep them happy

Getting that much needed “Like”

• You want to entice them to click your “like” button
• Offer them something for free, i.e. an ebook, marketing tips or a video you have created

How the reveal tab helps you

• By displaying different items and things to them after they click on your “like” button
• The call to action that tells them what to do next
• Put emphasis on the benefit, the why they need to understand your solution to their problem
• The greater the incentive, the better the end result

5 Steps to put your Action Plan On Steroids

1. Research, add content, experience Social Media websites by searching for friends and their interests on specific topics
2. What tabs do you want on your page i.e. welcome tab, video, opt-in, profile, a survey, a contest entry form, a poll…the tab options are endless on Facebook
3. Outline your users experiences and anything else to give them a valuable learning experience to your fans
4. Open up other marketing options i.e. mailing addresses, post cards, call center contacts, text messages on mobile phones
5. Compel them to take immediate action

1. Start up with your back end product
2. Create your gift
3. Create your graphics
4. Create your Facebook Fan Page
5. Create your reveal tab

Only those people who “like” your Fan Page can get your specific informaion. Others get their public information by using a Facebook redirect.

• Start by setting it up on your server

• WordPress gives you lots of flexibility
• You can also create your own applications on your server

It has been reported that Article Writing has lost some of it’s link juice since the algorithm changes. Some great websites still going strong are ezine articles  & article base.

Press Releases allow you to reach a huge market as your news spre ads

quickly. You should create your press release as a single page. Write your press release as a media announcement. Whatever your press release is about, talk about the benefits and make it clear and concise.

Social Bookmarking

Use the Firefox plug in called Shareaholic. Use it to ping your article to multiple Social Media  sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, and Delicious.

Promoting ideas are not exhaustive. The Facebook ads that appear are created for your target market. Measure your results and clicks.

Present

• Publish new content on your page frequently
• Remain consistent but not predictable
• Make regular offers for products and services that will help your followers
• Mix up the content
• Measure and improve
• Listen to your feedback, and the comments you get, both positive and negative
• Look at the demographics
• Take on what you want to promote honestly, and dismiss the ones you should let go
• Keep track of your sales that are marketed through your page
